It’s absolutely amazing to be featured on one of my favorite blogs!  I have always loved Sarah Klassen’s taste and to have her mention my work means the world to me. Head over there to check out everything that inspires her.

Here’s something that you maybe didn’t know about me – I design, print and trim my own business cards. I also make greeting cards that I like to send to special people. To compliment my series “Irrational Fear Of Confined Spaces” I also make a limited edition of small signed books.

I believe in consistency especially when it comes to the visual presentation of a business which is why everything is grey and white. I went for the neutral colour grey to make sure that the emphasis is always on the images first. After all, it’s all about the photographs!

Sure they are art installation, but to me, they are simply the most beautiful rooms I have ever seen! I feel like redecorating or even better, hunting for an old New York apartment!

I was reading a very interesting article analysing the ‘Instagram obsession’ and the nostalgia that comes with it. Some people are dubbing the application “the Auto-Tune of photography”. Others say that it is tapping into the sense “that a photograph is itself a precious object”. I find this statement quite intriguing as artist like myself spend our entire career trying to convince the world of exactly that.

I use instagram quite a bit, but never for ‘serious’ work. What I mean by this is that I use it for daily memory snapshots of my life and not for my fine art work. Today I’ve been feeling experimental so I’ve decided to blur the lines a little. The images below were all shot using my iPhone 4s and different Instagram filters. I took the time to light the images with Manfrotto’s LED lights. My hairdresser dropped by to do a bit of a “Bardot” cut for the shoot and I found the tools of her trade inspiring subjects. Yes I know I am very lucky to have my personal hairstylist coming over to my house…
